Over 2.5 miles of trails and many acres of forests and tidelands, plus the historic homestead, it's a great place to head out and explore.

Dosewallips State Park consists of more than 1000 acres of prime wildlife habitat along the Dosewallips River at its delta on Hood Canal. Well-known for its campground and excellent fishing and shell fishing opportunities, the park also contains nearly five miles of hiking trails.

The trail to Marmot Pass traverses stately primeval forest and crests a high mountain pass providing views from Puget Sound to the Olympic Mountain’s craggiest and most aspiring peaks. And the pass is home to Olympic marmots, one of nature’s most whimsical and adorable critters.

Fed by glaciers, snowfields, and a myriad of springs and alpine lakes; this major Olympic Peninsula river provides excellent wildlife habitat and makes for some stunning scenery.

Surprisingly this trail is not on many hiker’s radar. Come on a weekday and you may have the lake to yourself.
