Bluegrass from the Forest | July 29-31
Northwest Bluegrass fans have reason to celebrate and tighten their banjo strings! Kristmas Town Kiwanis’ Bluegrass from the Forest is returning this summer at an outdoor festival location again – July 29-31
Pandemic restrictions continue to make it prohibitive for the festival to be held at former location – the Performing Arts Center on the Shelton High School property, but as event organizer, Duane Wilson, remarked after hosting the event outdoors in 2021 at the South Mason Soccer Park, the new location offers opportunities not previously available.
“We missed the comfort and all of the amenities that school theater had to offer but there were a lot of positives in having the Festival in an open air facility. The biggest one is space. Now we have fifteen acres to spread people out. And having the camping arounf the festival was great!”
The event hosts two stages areas, a beer and wine garden, and food and vendor spaces near the stages. The festival also accommodates two RV parking areas and lots of grassy tent sites for just $15/night. There are no showers or electric hookups but there are on site restrooms. The facility directly to the east of the soccer park is Mason County Recreation.
Bluegrass from the Forest was started by Kristmas Town Kiwanis seventeen years ago. Over the years the proceeds from the Festival have funded many other projects in Shelton and Mason County, always focusing on helping the youth of the area.
